I am a front-end team lead at Leviosa where I build the future of medical journaling.
I am a digital native and first started programming for the web in 2003. These days I mostly work with React, GraphQL and Typescript.
Finished a BSc degree in computer science in the spring of 2015 from the University of Iceland. On top of my studies I have been programming for the web since around 2003, when the web was a whole different beast.
I want to keep working on making beautiful products that are a joy to use.
For almost two decades I have been studying what makes applications and websites useful and enjoyable. It's a field that is always evolving and I find really interesting.
My main interests in the field are connected with human-computer interaction, interaction design and front-end programming. The breakthrough of AI makes this a particularly exciting time to be working in the field.
My skill set is broad, ranging from designing websites and interfaces, to coding them up in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. For the past 8 years I have been working mostly with React, going all the way from designing the UI to setting up the backend and setting up hosting on AWS and Vercel.
Keywords: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript, React, Next.js, React-Native, Figma
For five years I was the lead developer and designer of a mid-sized React app. My duties spanned the entire stack, from UI design and coding to database design and dev-ops.
I am a father, son, brother and uncle. I live in Reykjavík with my our two girls, Embla María and Freyja Ínes. Fatherhood is both an exciting and deeply humbling task, where you learn skills you never knew you lacked.
Origami is math translated into art. The creation of complex 3D sculptures out of a simple piece of paper blows my mind every time. Among my creations are lamp shades and a living room window installation.
Coffee is not only an addiction but also my hobby because the rabbit hole keeps getting deeper and deeper. It is both highly scientific, and requires skillful craftsmanship.
We live in times of unprecedented advances in technology. I'm a tech news addict and anything related to the future of the internet, web technologies and security.
